EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!! [27 Jan 2008|10:24am]
So. Yesterday? An excellent day.

(okay it started off pretty bad with some crew mix-ups but I wont go into detail) So I got cox on the Jordan River!! Well almost, my boat's stroke seat didn't show up, so we were pretty much screwed. But the coach was like "its cool! You can just ran alongside Graham's Boat!" Which sounds alright, in theory. The ground was covered in semi hardened snow, making it super hard to run in.
Also people in the boat didn't get nearly as tired as the crazy people running along the sidelines.
Its also really hard to run when you're wearing like 3 or 4 layers.

Anyways! It was still pretty fun, mostly because I love being with the team! We went to breakfast afterwards, which rocked, and the waiter tried to talk to us about WoW.
...yeah...

The rest of the day was pretty average. Homework, lounging, Farsi, you know

And then the dance.

So everyone kinda balked on the dance buisness (except Ruth, I understand Ruth's situation) and I'll admit, I was a little irritated but whatever! We still knew people who were going! (Carson, Miles, Bengt, their dates who I all love)
Ian picked me up around 6:30 and we went to the Red Butte Cafe for dinner. It was pretty nice! I'm not really a sandwich or salad person, but the food was still really good (I only wish we could have gotten cake)
Back to Ian's house to change and the off to the dance!!

Now let's say this
You're only going to have fun at the dance knowing you're going to make a fool of yourself in a crowd of people making fools of themselves and that you're going to hate the music but will bear with it anyways.

This is key.

We waited around for Bengt's group to show (and then finish their group pictures), standing around and making pleasentries with people we did know, before actually going into the dark terrified place also known as the Dance Floor.
So, big crowd of people, tightly packed, loud music, people bumping into each other, my brain immediatly  processes this as MOSH PIT. So I spent at a good 10 minutes convincing myself I didn't need my arms up in defense mode

It ended up being, and yes this is strange, a lot of fun. I'd go again! I won't Ian was the best dancer, or even a good dancer, but it meant a lot that he danced with me even though he was originally hesitant. (As were Carson and Miles who also "danced" with their dates) And he even managed to have fun too.

:D

I wish rappers still wore thick rimmed glasses and rode scooters [23 Jan 2008|03:10pm]
Okay, I really should be working on ma homeworks,
BUT MY LEARNING ELEPHANT IS DISTRACTIONS!!!!! D:

I'm really starting to like learning elephant... he's kinda cute in my head...

anyways! The post. Does anybody have "classes" (and by classes I mean wastes of time) in of which they could, oh I dunno, ink a little animation for me? please?
Love you long time?

On a side note, I've suddenly realized what people (and by people I mean the Cult) were talking about when Ian and I started going out. Although I'm still reluctant to climb down from my high horse.

Whales! Whales! Whales! [09 Dec 2007|08:33pm]
I don't even need to say how awesomely amazing Flogging Molly was, honestly, I think its all been said already
Heh heh, but I've got pretty impressive bruises on both knees. I'm proud of them (hardcore!) Not as awesome is the aching pain I feel in my neck and shoulders. Why? Why won't you turn anymore?!
I think I'm also bruised on my arms and hips. hmm...

Tell me Cultness, what's next on the concert plate? $10 says nothing interesting pops up until June, just because we live in Utah (  ;_; infinite sadness)
I'm also curious, just like SLC Punk preaches, I wonder if pits like friday's are unique to a suppressed punk culture here and places like, I dunno, Chicago don't get as violent.

Anyways, totally unrelated, I've started animating. Frame by goddamn frame. Its...so...tedious... why don't I have computer talent -cries-

My mom was complaining the other day about why grotesque and gory movies don't get an NC-17 rating, because of grisly content

I think the better question is who the hell is coming up with these movies and plots and torture devices, and why is it acceptable in society to watch someone be literally pulled apart in front of our eyes? Or tortured for an hour and a half?  Why do we laugh at an untimely grisly death, lost limbs or buckets of blood?
Why is there a demand?
What the fuck is wrong?

I just spent copious amounts of time digging through articles revolving around Splatterpunk, Cliver Barker (and his various novels/films/games), and The Audition.

In order to counter-act these.... images... I believe the only solution is to drown myself in a sea of kittens and rainbows.

Excuse me.

SEATTLE!! Part 2! [09 Oct 2007|04:02pm]
Seattle!! Sunday!!

Penny, sleeping next to me, had the habit of wrapping around you in her sleep if you got to close to her. Cute!  The covers were also often stolen from me, and it is fucking cold at night!!
Officially woke up at 5 a.m. Very difficult, that bed was comfy!  since I was coxing one of the first races and my roomates were in the 2nd and 3rd flight, they got to sleep! damn them! At around 5:30 I took my suitcase and breakfast/lunch to hang around Ian's room and wait for him to finally be ready so I could put my stuff there (since of the original 12 rooms only 5 could be kept untill 2. Weird.)
Ate in the lobby with Ian as more and more of the team showed up and got ready to head off in the vans. All at 6 in the morning.
After almost getting lost, we ended up in Gasworks Park. Coolest fucking park ever, an old oil refinery was poisoning the water so they stopped production and turned the place into a bitchin park!!! Awesome awesome awesome
Getting ready for the race was fun, rigging boats, putting on my 4 sweaters and jackets, taking a final look over the course, and the boat to the dock, getting in at super speed, and finally pushing off. This stretch of river that lead into the lake (about 100 yards forward) was overfuckingflowing with boats. Oh man, I had to work so hard not to crash into people all around me!! We did some warm ups (to literally warm up) and searched all over to find the bow number (boat) before ours, after about 5 minutes of franticly praying to an unknown deity that I didn't miss the start of our race, the boats in front start to head out and our set is up to the plate. 15 seconds later the race is on.
Surprisingly enough, I hadn't been nervous at all until I was actually in Seattle, and then it really picked up the day of the race. I was pretty much turning into a nervous wreck on the inside up till the actual start of the race. Then I was fine. 3 minutes in I was pretty confident that we were going to do just fine.
One boat passed us in the beggining and from then on we caught none and none caught us, except some pair racers (Oh, I was coxing the Varsity Girls 4, so I had 4 rowers. The pair boats are just two people, but they're FUCKING FAST. Its like the less people you have the faster you go. Probably becuase 1 or two people are controlling everything and the boats are lighter) Anyways, passed the bouys perfectly, racing along. At about 4oo meters to go I told the team to really step it up, and holy shit. Suddenly we were flying through the water and retook those goddamn pairs!! It was crazy!!
I actually didn't know where the end of the race was (like the finish line, I knew the general place) so it turns out after we passed the ending bouy I called for a power 10 (10 strokes with the most energy and power you can possibly give). Just shows how awesome we are.
After we make it back to the dock, all other races are cancelled. I kid you not, flights 2 and 3 are flat out cancelled due to weather. Not rain or anything like that, but the fucking wind! It was too windy! Granted, serious wind causes the mother of all waves to crash over your boat, not only slowing you down but causing you to rock back and forth, making rowing very very difficult. But here in Utah, we're always dealing with that, so it was a super dissapointment
Sad! Especially for the novice kids who never got to row!! what the hell!!

Time goes by and we head back to the hotel to change and shower if we so desire. Much silliness ensues from here, as there are only 5 rooms for 30 kids to hang out in. Ian and I are made fun of for being cute -sad face-

Now we'll tour Univeristy of Washington's large pretty building dedicated to crew!!
I'll spare you the details, since you guys don't know anything about crew, but in a nutshell, they had the most beautiful things that we know we'll never be able to get close too. There was a boat on display that their team and had taken to the olympics (and won) in like 1944 and our boats here look like that. So, So sad.
The plan was to go to this palce called Pike Market (which I'll talk about in a sec) but the Wrights car made a quick detour to the U bookstore. Very nice, filled with awesome things (Egdar Allen Poe action figrues)
So Pike Market
Best 3 hours of my life?
Ian and I had pretty much lost the rest of team (who had split into various groups we saw for brief periods of time) so it was pretty much like a date! yay! That never happens! (no joke, we don't go on dates often)
Pike market was like one very very long hallway of west high, in the sense that it unbelievably crowded. It was an open air market, covered with a roof thanks be to god. Inside was packed with people and stores selling everything from pictures, candy, fish (oh, lots and lots of fish), fresh and unbelivably delicious fruits and veggies (oh so many...), resteraunts/snack shops, trinkets, live music, and free samples. And if all that wasn't enough on the ground level, there was also an basement version with some of the coolest craziest stuff ever!!
Highlight stores?
A basement store selling old posters, magazines (playboys!!), and candidate pins ranging from nixon to reagan and various senators and such. Super cool!!
Another basement store was a magic shop with pretty much only old 50's magic junk, a lok of fun to browse through! They had an Elvis that could tell your future! XD
Two stores only sold candy, both new and increidbly old that you just never see anymore, notably weird old Wonka candies!
On the ground level:
The fruit, jerkey, and candy samples I tasted were amazing!! So many delicious things!!
Ian and I ate possibly the best clam chowder I've ever had (and I don't even like clam chowder!) in a tiny open air resteraunt and was filled with weird local show posters and had cool spinning bar chairs!
There was this black guy standing on the side of the road covering old 50's songs in the deepest voice I've ever heard and creating the sound of various insraments (like the trumpet and sax) exactly as the real thing would sound using only paper cups and newpaper and such. Why don't we have shit like this?!
Best was a fish place where they "throw the fish". The cool working class punk guys working there would throw fish and other seafood to each other as it came or as people bought from them. One would call out "Musscle!" and the other 4 would chant "MUSSCLE" with a cool irish feel added. Really hard to explain. I'm not talking about throwing like a bag across 20ft to one another, this is like 10lbs of fish flying to and fro!! Once they threw a huge fish back and forth 3 times, and the third time one guy threw a stuffed shark (same size as the fish) into the crowd just to freak people out. Tons of fun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7tORf-DEyM&mode=related&search=Seattle%20Pike%20Place%20Fish%20Market
Here's a video I found on youtube of them

I cant even describe how much fun I had.
Being in the airport with the team, goofing off, being silly and loud and playing video games on the plane with Carson and Graham, getting back at 12 in the morning. Honestly, best time ever.

YEAH!!!!
